The Grundy County Sheriff's Office has requested the public for information in an investigation into a crime spree that included burglaries, attempted burglaries and vehicle theft in Dike and Reinbeck during the early morning hours of Wednesday, Jan. 5.

According to a press release, the Grundy County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call on Jan. 5 of a residential burglary in progress in Dike. Upon arrival, the deputy investigating found the rear door to the residence kicked in and evidence of home entry.

The deputy then came across a burglary at Fidelity Bank, and while at the bank received another burglary call about a Dike city-owned property. While at that property, they received a call of a city maintenance truck being stolen, which was later recovered abandoned. Deputies were informed further of an attempted break-in of the outside ATM at Peoples Savings Bank in Dike.

Furthermore, while investigating these crimes, deputies were alerted to burglaries at Delta McKenzie Targets in Dike and the Reinbeck Memorial Building.

The Sheriff's investigation has concluded that all of these crimes are related. No money is missing from either ATM that was hit in this spree and the only items taken during the course of the events were petty cash and liquor from the Reinbeck Memorial Building.

The sheriff's office seeks video footage from 4:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. on Jan. 5 in the affected areas where the crimes took place to assist in their investigation. The office was assisted by the FBI and Iowa State Patrol. The office can be reached by phone, 319-824-6933, or by e-mail, sheriff@grundycountyiowa.gov.
