DIKE — Sherry D. Mesenbrink, 57, of Dike, Iowa, passed away on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Creekside Living in Grundy Center.

A memorial visitation was held on Tuesday, May 7 at Abels Funeral and Cremation Service, Dike Chapel. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.abelsfuneralhomes.com

Sherry was born on Sept. 1, 1966, in La Porte City to Gary and Dorothy (Wester) Blocker. She graduated from La Porte City High School in the Class of 1985. Sherry then went on to earn her certification as a licensed beautician from La’ James International College. Sherry worked as a beautician at JC Penny in Waterloo, then as a clerk at Kwik Star and finally as a cashier at D & D Foods in Dike. She had to stop working after her diagnosis of cancer in 1996. She battled this disease bravely for over 27 years.

Sherry liked working on crossword puzzles, sewing, and knitting. She loved going on road trips with Todd on his motorcycle. She was always up for new adventures. Sherry and Todd were united in marriage on Nov. 22, 1989 and enjoyed over 34 wonderful years of marriage together and welcomed their son Clint into their family. Her true joy in life came from spending time with her family.

Sherry is survived by her husband Todd; son Clint, mother, Dorothy Blocker and brothers Scott and Steven Blocker.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gary Blocker.
