Grundy Center boys tennis started the spring with road meets at Hampton-Dumont and South Hardin last week.

The meet against the Bulldogs on Tuesday, April 6 had no team scores reported as only two of the four Spartans out for tennis this season were able to attend at Progress Park in Hampton against the four HDCAL tennis players. Jeff Harris won two singles matches but lost a third against Jonah Bollhagen, 10-1, at No. 1 singles. Julian Lamp tied with Logan Miller, 6-6, at No. 2 singles.

In the lone doubles match of the day, Harris and Lamp teamed up for a 6-2 victory over Cady and Hernandez.

The Spartans had three of four available for Friday’s match at South Hardin, again facing a team that also only had four players on the roster.

Lamp pulled double duty, falling 10-0 to Nathan Stanish but defeating Landon Rewoldt 10-2. South Hardin’s Jesse Roe won at No. 1 singles, 10-5, over Tanner Laube and Jeff Harris lost 10-1 to Brock Lu at No. 1 singles.

In doubles action, Roe and Lu defeated Laube and Harris at No. 1 doubles, 10-5; Laube and Lamp defeated Stanish and Rewoldt, 8-1.

Grundy Center’s next meet is scheduled for Monday, April 19 at Union Community.
