Spartan boys win third, fourth straight

GRUNDY CENTER — The Grundy Center boys’ tennis team continued its strong early-season play last week with a pair of one-sided victories.
The Spartans (4-1) defeated Union 7-2 Monday before shutting out South Tama 9-0 Tuesday.
Despite the victory over Union, Coach John Baade said his team could have played better.
“The boys played well with a few exceptions. This is a team we should have beaten 9-0,” he said. “We need to focus and play at a higher level during matches.”
He had no such complaints the following night against a South Tama team that he said has the potential to be good in the future.
