Spartans clinch sixth straight West crown

    ACKLEY — Three Grundy Center hitters finished with nine or more kills, lifting the Spartans to a three-game sweep over AGWSR, clinching their sixth straight North Iowa Cedar League West Division title.
    The Spartans (26-9 overall) also finish undefeated in the NICL West for the sixth straight year. AGWSR wraps up its regular season with a 5-23 overall record, 1-6 in the NICL West. The Cougars hosted Valley Lutheran in a first-round regional matchup Tuesday. Grundy Center had a first-round bye and will play either West Marshall or Colfax-Mingo next Tuesday (Oct. 28).
    Spartan coach Darwin Sents said the conference title is something his team focuses on.
