Spartans dominate golf sectional

GRUNDY CENTER — The Grundy Center boys’ tennis team took advantage of its home course to score a dominating victory in a Class 1A sectional meet.
The Huskies had the five lowest scores of the meet while winning by 31 shots over second-place Gladbrook-Reinbeck. The Spartans, Rebels and third-place GMG all advance to Thursday’s district meet at Oskaloosa, where the top two finishers advance to the Class 1A state tournament May 29-30 in Marshalltown.
“Winning the sectional was special, but not nearly as important as earning the opportunity to advance to the next level of the postseason tournament,” Spartan coach Dennis Dirks said. “The meet served as the first step in that advancement process.”
