Spartans earn district win over Wapsie Valley

GRUNDY CENTER – The Grundy Center football team moved to 2-0 in district play with a 32-14 win over Wapsie Valley Friday night. Bryce Flater led a strong Spartan running game with 275 yards of rushing and three touchdowns.
Flater’s first scoring run came on the second play of the game when he went 67 yards for a touchdown less than a minute in. Wapsie Valley blocked the PAT attempt and the Spartans took a 6-0 early lead. Just a couple of minutes later Flater went the distance again, this time for a 69-yard scoring run.
In the second period Jared Krausman intercepted a Wapsie Valley pass and ran 55 yards for a third Grundy Center score to put the Spartans up 18-0 at the halftime break.
