Spartans go 2-2 at Cedar Falls Tiger Invitational
CEDAR FALLS – The Spartan volleyball team went 2-2 at the Tiger Invitational on Saturday, their performance against some high caliber teams revealing how far they’ve come, yet confirming there is still work to be done.
“It’s a very good tournament, a very tough tournament,” Grundy Center head coach Darwin Sents said. “It’s good to see where you’re at and what you need to fix. We definitely saw some things we need to fix. But we’re working hard and we’re getting there.”
The Spartans opened pool play with an 18-21, 15-21 loss to Class 5A No. 9 Cedar Falls. Noel Saak and Katie Lindeman had five and four kills respectively, Peyton Ralston five assists, and Riley Sents 17 digs in the opening match against the Tigers.
“I thought we came out really strong and got off to a great start,” Sents said. “Then we got comfortable, lost our focus maybe, and the first game got away from us. In game two we had to play from behind the whole game and couldn’t come back.”
