Spartans refocus after disappointing Benton Invite

BENTON – The Grundy Center Spartan volleyball team is looking to refocus and regroup after falling short at the Benton Invitational Saturday. The Spartans, who went 3-2 against quality opponents, are working to refine their game as they look ahead to even tougher competition this coming week.
“We played some good competition,” Grundy Center head coach Darwin Sents said, “but we weren’t in our finest form. It was a disappointing day from the standpoint of how we played. We just have to get better and learn from it.”
Grundy Center started the day off falling in two sets to Durant-Bennett, 18-21, 21-23.
“They are ranked,” Sents said. “But they are a team that nine times out of 10 we would beat. We were ahead all the way to the 17th point in both sets. We were in great shape, but fell off at the end of both games.”
