Spartans suffer season-ending loss to Jesup

REINBECK- Early in Thursday night’s Class 1A, District 5 quarterfinal matchup between Grundy Center and Jesup, it looked like the Spartans were poised to run away with the win as they came out firing on all cylinders. A cold spell in the second and third quarters along with some key mistakes, however, allowed the J-Hawks to get back in the game and eventually take the lead, and they advanced with a 52-45 victory in Reinbeck.
“We knew it was going to be a good ball game,” Grundy Center Head Coach Rollie Ackerman said. “It was just a matter of who was going to be able to make the plays and take advantage of a mistake or two, and that would be the difference. And that’s what happened tonight.”
