Spooky fun: Reinbeck Library hosts Halloween reading party
REINBECK – It was a monster mash at the Reinbeck Public Library on Tuesday morning, as local youngsters showed up in their costumes for a fun, Halloween reading party.
From superheroes to Disney princesses, over a dozen costumed kids came to participate in some Halloween-themed crafts, tasty treats, story time, singing and more.
Library employee Cherie Eckhoff said it’s the first time the library has done a Halloween reading party, but she was surprised with the good turnout.
"It seems like a lot of these kids get more excited for Halloween than they do even for Christmas,” she said.
Library Director Janet Slessor says the library offers a number of different programs they’re hoping to get more people involved in.
Every Tuesday at 10 a.m., the library hosts story time for local children. For adults, there are two different book discussions that take place once a month at Westview. The afternoon group meets from 4 to 5 p.m. and the evening group meets from 7 to 8 p.m., both on the third Wednesday of the month.
For November, the book selection is “The Shadow Queen” by Rebecca Dean for the afternoon group and “The Throwaway Children” by Diney Costeloe for the evening group. Anyone interested in participating can join at any time.
