Supervisors discuss pest control, bollard quotes

County Custodian Mark Jungling came before the board of supervisors on Monday morning to explore options for bollards around gas meters and the potential of hiring an exterminator to deal with centipedes, ants, spiders and bats in the courthouse.

The discussion about pest control came back into focus last week after a bat was found inside of the courthouse, but Jungling told The Grundy Register that overall, it hasn’t been a huge problem in recent years. He added that because of the structure of the building—and specifically, the clock tower—it could be difficult and expensive to shut off all potential ports of entry.

Supervisor Barb Smith told Jungling that hiring a monthly pest control specialist has worked well for her at her businesses. Clerk of Court Diane Pippert stopped by the meeting to inform the board that the bats have been found on the third floor of the courthouse, where her office keeps some of its records.
