Terry Crisman

Terry Crisman entered God’s eternal kingdom at the age of 64. He was born August 29th, 1958, in Coon Rapids, Iowa before moving to Washta, and later, Grundy Center, Iowa, which he always considered his hometown.

Known as Big Red in high school, Terry excelled in sports. He lettered one year in tennis, two years in track, and three years in baseball, basketball, and football. He was inducted into the Grundy Center Sports Hall of Fame in 2004. Terry continued his football career at Drake University in Des Moines, where he lettered four more times as a defensive tackle. In 1981, Terry helped lead the Bulldogs to win the Missouri Valley championship with a 10-1 record.

Terry loved his job as a professional truck driver, and worked for Marten Transport, where he was awarded Driver of the Week in August 2022. Terry also loved cooking, barbecuing, hot fudge peanut butter malts, tailgating, Iowa football, and especially, his family. His daughters were his world; he loved coaching Katie’s little league softball teams and playing basketball with Morgan at her school.

Terry is survived by his daughters Katie and Morgan Crisman; his mother, Janis Crisman; his brothers Joel and Jeff Crisman; his sisters Nadine (Mike) Kastner, Carleen (AJ Arias) Adams, and Jody Samo; his nephews Nolan, Eli, Joe, Ian, Taylor, and Ben; his niece Melissa; and his ex-wife and close friend Kristine Griego Crisman.

A celebration of life will be held at St. Gabriel’s Holy Family Catholic Parish in Reinbeck, Iowa on Wednesday June 28th at 11:00 a.m.
