Ultimate Mileage Vehicles set new bests

GRUNDY CENTER — The Grundy Center High School Ultimate Mileage Vehicle program continues to set new highs. This year the students entered three cars in the competition last week at Southeast Polk High School, placing as high as sixth out of 35 conventionally fueled cars.
New this year for Grundy Center was a diesel car, which was the only car in its alternative fuel class. Dan Knock said the alternative car was something that he and Jacob Spangenburg had hoped to do for a long time. That car scored an impressive 260 miles per gallon, the most ever by a Grundy Center ultimate mileage vehicle.
