Varney, D-NH baseball slams Lions

DIKE – Gus Varney’s fifth-inning grand slam propelled Dike-New Hartford to a 13-3 win over Clear Lake in six innings at D-NH High School on Tuesday, June 14.

Varney’s home run was part of a seven-run inning in the fifth that pushed D-NH to a 12-3 lead. Cole McCumber drove in his third RBI of the game to end it early.

Carson Costello was 2-for-4 with two RBI and Lewis Textor and Micah Walston added two hits each and single RBIs.

Costello was the winning pitcher with seven strikeouts and three runs, all unearned, on four hits.
