Western Home takes over Creekside project
GRUNDY CENTER — The proposed Creekside Development has new leadership.
Monday, Creekside, Inc. president John Schuller reported to the Grundy Center City Council that Creekside Inc. has transferred controlling interest of the project, which is slated to bring a variety of living options for retired citizens to a 25-acre tract of land on the city’s far east side, to Cedar Falls-based Western Home Communities.
“Western Home has been our partner on this and we really got to a point where Creekside has no financial strength to support that development,” Schuller said.
Schuller said one of the organization’s options was to do a major capital campaign, though with the recent capital campaign for Main Street Grundy Center and possible upcoming capital campaigns for the Grundy County Memorial Hospital and Grundy Center Preschool, they were concerned about competing for money.
