Annabelle White is the new Grundy Family YMCA executive director as of earlier this year, according to a recent press release from YMCA Board Chair Jenn Venenga.

White, during her tenure as a program director for the YMCA, provided great results in sports, school-age childcare, fundraising and other YMCA initiatives.

“Annabelle will continue to move the needle forward in all that the YMCA has to offer,” said board member Steve VanderPol.

White’s strong community organizing background, and especially her work with the county’s youth, is something she hopes to build on to a broader level.

White takes over in the role following Amanda Yoder, who stepped down in December to pursue her physical therapy passion at Grundy County Memorial Hospital but will remain with the Grundy YMCA in a part-time capacity.

“Mandy was instrumental in leading the Grundy YMCA through turbulent times over the last 5 years, especially during the pandemic,” said Norm Johnson, CEO of the Family YMCA of Black Hawk County.

Community members with an interest in serving on the county YMCA’s board of advisors are asked to reach out to Venenga or staff at the YMCA.

“The Grundy Family YMCA’s Board of Advisors has developed a leadership transition plan, along with the CEO of Black Hawk County designed to address strategic issues relating to our community that provide opportunities,” Johnson added. “Key areas of strategic focus include: partnerships, inclusion, sustainability, education, health & well-being, and community development.”
