Wilma Ruth Gunnarson

HILLIARD, Ohio - Wilma Ruth Gunnarson died peacefully on June 15, 2025 in Hilliard, Ohio.  

Per her wishes, a private family burial service will be held at a later date at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Wilma was born in Grundy County on December 10, 1927, the daughter of Ralph and Jennie (Kruse) Heerts.  She married LeRoy Gunnarson, who later died in 1984.

Wilma loved to travel with friends and family, playing cards and games, but especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory are her son, Curtis (Judy) Gunnarson, Hamilton, Ohio and her daughter, Jeanie (Jim) Gibney, Bettendorf.  She is also survived by her grandchildren Mike (Julie) Gunnarson, Dublin, Ohio, who were both dedicated to her care in her final years; Jim (Heather) Gunnarson, Cincinnati, Ohio; Corey (Ashley) Gibney, Des Moines; and Jenny (Mike) Burr, Eldridge.  Ten great-grandchildren will cherish the memory of “Gigi” and include:  Arin, Henry, Bill, and Alli Gunnarson; Lily, Trevor, Gage Gunnarson and Julia Glenn; and Makenna and Emma Burr.

In addition to her husband and her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her sister, Rilla Jo Pabst.
