Although details are currently sparse, a Wisconsin man has been charged in connection with an attempted child enticement after being arrested at the Grundy County Lake near Dike on Wednesday.

Carson Tyler Sibley, age 26, of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, faces one count of Enticing a Minor Under the Age of 16—Sexual Purpose, a Class D felony, for allegedly attempting to lure a minor victim in Grundy County through online communication on May 29. Sheriff Rick Penning declined to disclose where the offense took place and said the investigation remains open.

“There could be more arrests. We’ve got a lot of work to do on it yet,” he said. “This is an internet crime.”

Law enforcement officials arranged a meeting with the suspect at the Grundy County Lake, where he was arrested without incident. Sibley, a registered sex offender in Wisconsin, was convicted of Promoting Child Abuse in the Second Degree there in 2013.

The enticement case is the second of its kind this year in Grundy County. In March, Jeff Altmayer of Ankeny was charged for a pair of incidents in the Dike area last summer, and he is set to stand trial beginning July 12.

Sibley’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 7, and public defender Darrell Meyer will represent him. He is currently in the Grundy County Jail on a no-bond hold, and the Iowa DCI, state patrol, Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office, Department of Homeland Security and the LaCrosse Police Department all assisted in the investigation.
