Wolverine girls clinch NICL East crown

FAYETTE – The top-ranked Dike-New Hartford girls secured sole possession of the NICL East title with wins over Aplington-Parkersburg and Wapsie Valley this past week. This marks the second consecutive division title for the Wolverines, and the second ever in 5-on-5 play. The Wolverines also picked up non-conference wins over Charles City and BCLUW.
The Wolverines (17-2 overall, 13-0 NICL East) are scheduled to play at Denver on Friday, Feb. 6.
Dike-New Hartford 49, Wapsie Valley 28
Dike-New Hartford started strong with a 20-4 run in the first quarter to take a big early lead over Wapsie Valley in a midday game at Upper Iowa University Saturday. The Wolverines held a commanding 33-10 lead at the halfway mark and maintained the lead in the second half to take the win by 21.
