Wolverines fall just short in dual regionals
STATE CENTER — Dike-New Hartford saw its dreams of a state dual tournament berth come up two points short last Tuesday as it dropped a dual regional final to familiar foe West Marshall, 33-31.
The Wolverines (23-5) had fallen to West Marshall 42-34 on Jan. 20.
The difference in the match was bonus points. Each team won seven bouts in a rare forfeit-free matchup, but West Marshall had four falls while D-NH had three falls and a major decision.
“One of our goals was to make it to state duals and we couldn’t quite do it,” D-NH coach Tony Norton said. “We were right there, we had a chance … it was close, close, close. Hopefully that will drive them to work hard. I guess it wasn’t meant to be.”
