Wolverines go 4-1 in dual action

STARMONT – The Dike-New Hartford wrestling team continued their successful ways this past week, going 4-1 in dual competition.
After losing a close 39-34 match to New Hampton at the Starmont Duals Saturday, Dike-New Hartford rebounded with big wins over Starmont and Vinton-Shellsburg, 66-9 and 60-18. The Wolverines accumulated six pins against Starmont and seven against Vinton-Shellsburg on their way to the wins. Trent Johnson (132), Nick Damin (152), Connor Ragsdale (170), DJ Ackerson (182), Lucas DePriest (220), and Tommy Irvin (285) all went 3-0 on the day, and Kyle Dennis (195) went 2-0.
Earlier in the week a large crowd was on hand to watch Dike-New Hartford earn a 57-20 win over Wapsie Valley and a 42-35 win over Denver-Tripoli on their home mat. The Wolverines earned pins in three of the last four matches against the Titans to come back from a 29-24 deficit and take the win.
