Wrestling roundup: Dike-New Hartford wins Alburnett Invite

ALBURNETT – Dike-New Hartford wrestling scored 282 team points to win the overall team title at the Alburnett Invite on Saturday, Jan. 25.

The host school was second with 257 points, South Winneshiek took third with 215 points.

D-NH's individual champions were Aidan Walters at 182 pounds, Zach Starbuck at 220 and Jacob Leohr at heavyweight, with all three wrestlers going undefeated in their respective round-robin divisions.

Walters won four of his matches by fall and added a 10-2 major decision against Iowa Valley's Ronan Peach.

Starbuck also won four matches by fall and defeated Alburnett's Kolby Morris in a 6-3 decision. Leohr won three matches by fall and added two major decisions.

Runners-up were Caden Ragsdale at 132 pounds, Cole Graves at 160 and Joe Folkerts at 195. Nick Reinicke earned a bronze at 145 pounds.


KOLTHOFF WINS IN GREENE: Taylor Kolthoff led the South Hardin-BCLUW wrestling team with a championship at 120 pounds at the Doug Trees Bearcat Invitational at North Butler High School last Saturday, Jan. 25.

The Storm finished seventh out of 13 teams with 112.5 points. Aplington-Parkersburg/Grundy Center scored 53 points to finish 10th. Nashua-Plainfield won the team title with 221 points.

Taylor Kolthoff won a 10-3 decision against Lake Mills' Jack Ramaker in the championship match. Carter Kolthoff added a runner-up finish at 106 pounds.

The Storm added a third-place finish for Lucas Gunderson at 195 pounds and two fourth-place finishes for Kade Pekarek (152) and Michael Fuller (170). Aiden Farnsworth was fifth at 220 pounds and Logan Aicher placed sixth in the 138-pound bracket.

Brier Uhlenhopp led the Falcons with a third-place finish at 160 pounds, winning a 9-4 decision in the third place match.

Fifth-place winners for A-P/GC were Zach Klahsen at 113 pounds, Nathan Klahsen at 138 and Kolby Muller at heavyweight. Nick Johnson was sixth at 170 pounds.
