Candidates slowly emerging for Grundy Center City Council, Mayor

    GRUNDY CENTER — Would you like to be mayor of Grundy Center? How about a City Councilman? Or would you prefer a spot on the Park Board. Then the City of Grundy Center wants you.
    Candidates are slowly emerging for city elections that will be held Nov. 5 throughout Iowa. As of Monday, one candidate has returned paperwork indicating that they will run for Mayor while two have indicated they will run for City Council and one individual has indicated they will run for Park Board.
    Grundy Center City Clerk Rich Riesberg said Councilman Brian Buhrow has returned paperwork for the upcoming mayoral election. The mayoral seat will be vacated at the end of the year as Rex Van Wert announced earlier this summer that he will not run for reelection.
