Wolverine defense records second straight shutout

DIKE — A pair of red zone stops helped the Dike-New Hartford defense record its second straight shutout as the Wolverines recorded a 35-0 victory over Nashua-Plainfield Friday.
D-NH (5-0 overall, 3-0 in Class 1A, District 3) moves into sole possession of first place in district play as the only remaining undefeated team. The Wolverines held N-P to 149 yards of total offense and forced a pair of turnovers in the victory. The Huskies drop to 3-3 overall and are 1-1 in the district.
“They are a very good football team, I think they’re a playoff-caliber team, and I thought our defense played lights out all night long,” Wolverine coach Don Betts said. “We controlled the line of scrimmage. They were a very physical team — I told our guys defensively that we had to win the line of scrimmage, and we won the line of scrimmage all night long.”
