Spartans earn fourth straight regional final berth

GRUNDY CENTER — The Grundy Center High School volleyball team closed to within one victory of its fourth straight state tournament bid last week with a pair of regional victories.
The Spartans overcame a slow start Tuesday to down South Hardin in four sets and then swept West Marshall Friday.
GC (28-8, ranked No. 9 in Class 2A) will face fifth-ranked South Central Calhoun (38-4) Wednesday in Webster City. Results of the match will be posted online at www.thegrundyregister.com and on our Facebook page.
Coach Darwin Sents’ team is in its fourth straight regional final with a very different team than the one that reached the Class 1A state final a year ago.
