Fourteen local gridders earn INA All-State honors

Local high school football teams had one of their best seasons on record, combining for 35 wins, three district championships and four playoff victories. Today no fewer than 14 members of those teams are honored as members of the Iowa Newspaper Association All-State Football Teams.
    The teams are selected by sports writers based on nominations from fellow writers and coaches as well as statistical data.
    AGWSR, which was the tri-champion in Class A, District 2, led the area with five all-state selections while Class A, District 4 champion Gladbrook-Reinbeck and Class 1A, District 3 champion Dike-New Hartford had four picks each. Grundy Center, which finished second in Class A, District 4, had one all-state  pick.
    Five of the local picks were on the first team while six were on the second team and three on the third.
