Rebel girls get big win over West Marshall
REINBECK – For the second week in a row, the Gladbrook-Reinbeck girls split NICL-West games in what is proving to be a tight conference race this season. The Rebels knocked off last year’s conference co-champs West Marshall on Friday 51-42, after losing a close one to AGWSR on Tuesday, 50-47.
The Rebels (2-4 overall, 2-3 NICL-West) will return from the holiday break to face a couple of non-conference opponents on their home court, Denver on Friday, Jan. 3 and Don Bosco on Saturday, Jan. 4, before resuming conference play at Grundy Center on Tuesday, Jan. 7.
Gladbrook-Reinbeck 51, West Marshall 42
Gladbrook-Reinbeck had a big second quarter, outscoring West Marshall by seven to take a 26-17 lead at the half Friday night, but the Trojans came back in the third to cut the Rebel lead to one, 36-35. Another Rebel run in the final period saw them outscore the Trojans 15-7 to secure the 51-42 win.
