Council corrects long-standing zoning issue
GRUNDY CENTER — The Grundy Center City Council changed a long-standing zoning law that had been used incorrectly during Monday’s regular Council meeting.
The property at 1309 G Avenue, the location of Park Place Restaurant, has long been zoned for residential property. Monday’s action changes to zoning to commercial.
Joann McKinnon, owner of Park Place, urged Council to make the change.
“It has been run as commercial for the past 59 years; it is only right that the Grundy Center City Council make it right,” she said.
Council had no discussion about the change when it came up, approving it by a unanimous vote.
The Council also approved a controversial agreement with Benefit Resources of Iowa after researching whether the $416 monthly cost of the service was worth what the city received for it.
