Superintendent search takes turn

GRUNDY CENTER — The Grundy Center School Board had high hopes of knowing who the District’s new superintendent would be last week. Instead the Board is reassessing its options after neither of the two finalists it interviewed last Tuesday took the position.
Board President Bob Johanns said the Board made an offer to one of the two finalists. That individual opted not to accept the Board’s offer, while the other finalist withdrew his name from consideration. Johanns declined to name the individual the Board offered the job to.
Last week the School District announced that Alta-Aurelia Superintendent Lynn Evans and David Hill, an elementary principal in the Union Community School District, were finalists for the position.
The Board met in closed session Tuesday night with the search firm it hired to help find a superintendent to discuss what their next option is.
“We’ll basically go through a variety of options at that time,” he said.
