AGWSR seniors celebrate as a family

    ACKLEY — Forty-seven AGWSR High School seniors were honored Sunday for accomplishing what, for many, has been a life-long goal; to graduate from high school. They looked to the future and the past, celebrating their triumphs and remembering their time together.
    Graduating senior Kary Doyle, speaking for the students, talked of being a family.
    “They say you don’t get to pick your family, and we didn’t, but I don’t think we would have it any other way,” he said. “What we have done in these years and what we have been through together, has made us who we are today. We can’t change the past and we shouldn’t want to. We need to remember the lessons that we’ve learned and embrace them.”
    Former University of Northern Iowa athletic director Rick Hartzell was the day’s speaker, urging students to move beyond and reach goals they never knew they could accomplish.
