Area thespians to perform in ‘Les Miserables’
WATERLOO - As the Waterloo Community Playhouse prepares for its long-awaited performance of “Les Miserables” beginning Friday, a number of cast members with local backgrounds shared their thoughts on the upcoming performance.
No fewer than five local actors and actresses are part of the cast, including three from Grundy Center. Long-time Secondary Instructional Media Center Director Don Osterhaus and his son Adam are in the cast, as are GCHS English Teacher Amalie Guldenpfennig, AGWSR High School Spanish Teacher Kim Sittig and New Hartford’s Alta Schwab. All said they got involved with the project because they enjoy the theater, with several wanting to be part of long-time director Charles Stillwell’s final show.
“I’ve done many shows with Chuck and this is my favorite musical,” Adam Osterhaus said. “This is his last one and I haven’t done one since “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” back in 2010. I thought it was worth the effort.”
