County again denies financial responsibility for runoff damages
GRUNDY CENTER — A week passed, but little changed in the ongoing debate between a group of Grundy Center residents and the Grundy County Board of Supervisors over who should bear the financial burden related to runoff damages after the Iowa Department of Transportation resurfaced Highway 14/175 in 2007.
Rich Ahlberg, his wife Shirley, Vi Roberts and Tony Gustafson of the Iowa Department of Transportation all attended the board’s regular meeting on Monday to ask the county for compensation for the water runoff in their driveways, which they believe was caused by the resurfacing project. Gustafson claimed that because Grundy County served as the contract administrator for the project, the responsibility of paying for the damages fell on the county.
