Spartans, Wolverines return to state volleyball tournament

The Grundy Center and Dike-New Hartford High School volleyball teams earned return trips to the state volleyball tournament Wednesday with three-game sweeps in Regional finals.

The Spartans (29-9) swept Lake Mills 25-14, 25-21, 25-12 while Dike-New Hartford swept Wapsie Valley 25-14, 25-16, 25-18. GC will face second-ranked Sumner-Fredericksburg at 2 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 12) on Court Two at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids while D-NH (37-3) will face West Branch at 2 p.m. on Court One. If both win they would play at 4 p.m. Thursday. The only win the Spartans and Wolverines could face each other would be in the state final at 4:45 p.m. Friday.
