D-NH girls extend NICL East lead

    DIKE — The Dike-New Hartford girls’ took control of the North Iowa Cedar League East Division title race Friday with a hard-fought victory Friday over Union Community.
    The Wolverines (11-2 overall, 9-0 in the East) downed the Knights 42-30 after leading by just one at halftime. They also downed Columbus Catholic 59-19 last week.
    “We talked about getting a two-game lead on Union a couple of games into the second half of the season,” Wolverine coach Bruce Dall said after Friday’s game. “We felt like we had to take care of business tonight to win outright.”
