Sicard to play softball at DMACC

ACKLEY — Ashley Sicard of Ackley has one summer left of high school softball, but Thursday she secured more diamond time by signing a national letter of intent to play for Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC).
Sicard has signed with a program that is long on achievements in a short time. In just three years in the sport, the Bears have made two appearances in the NJCAA College World Series. DMACC placed third last season and had a seventh placing in 2012.
DMACC assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Daron Harris is excited with the signing. “Ashley’s a leader and that is what we look for. She puts this team on her shoulders and they have went to state the last two years.”
