Consultants send mixed message to G-R Board

REINBECK — A pair of consultants hired by the Gladbrook-Reinbeck Community School District to assist in the decision of what to do about the District’s facilities issue gave no firm direction for the Board to follow.
Consultants Joe Kramer, superintendent of the Pocahontas Area Community School District, and Jeff Kruse of the South Central Calhoun Community School District outlined reasons to keep both Reinbeck Elementary and the elementary-junior high building in Gladbrook open in a three-page letter outlining to the G-R School Board and discussed at a work session last week.
The report suggests keeping the Gladbrook building open if community impact is the primary consideration in their decision, but suggests keeping the Reinbeck building open if the long-term financial impact of the District was the primary concern.
