GCEA requests 4 percent total package increase
GRUNDY CENTER —The Grundy Center Education Association (GCEA) requested a 4.05 percent total package increase last Wednesday as it exchanged initial contract proposals with the Grundy Center School Board.
The request includes raising the base pay for teachers from $31,050 to $31,550, keeping longevity pay at $2,000 and raising the tax sheltered annuity to $300. It also requests that insurance remain the same.
Ronda Sternhagen spoke for the GCEA, noting that Grundy Center’s generator base salary is the third-lowest among the 15 public schools in the North Iowa Cedar League and that the actual starting base salary ($33,534) is sixth-lowest.
