Miller says final goodbye to Grundy Center Elementary
GRUNDY CENTER — For 31 years Grundy Center Elementary principal Lisa Miller has made education her home. Next year things will be different.
Miller wrapped up her 31-year career last Friday, closing the door on 17 years teaching and another six as an administrator first at Turkey Valley and for the past eight years as the leader at Grundy Center Elementary.
“The thing that stands out the most as I look back is all the wonderful people that I’ve met,” she said. “I love the kids, but what stands out to me is all the friendships, all the relationships from here to Turkey Valley to Oelwein to Boyden (Hull) even. When I look back I look first at the people.”
It was while teaching in Oelwein that she began to think about making the move to administration.
