GCHS music department to present ‘Footloose’
GRUNDY CENTER — The sounds and styles of the 1980s will come alive on the stage at Grundy Center High School this weekend, as the Grundy Center High School Music Department presents the classic film turned musical “Footloose” Friday and Sunday at the GCHS Auditorium.
Director Emily Boquet said “Footloose” was her favorite movie growing up and that she was excited to put the show together.
“They came out with a remake a few years ago, so a lot of these kids were exposed to it, and then last year we did a little bit of a medley at the GC Jazz show,” she said. “We learned little pieces of the songs and the kids loved it so much, and dressing up 80s, and I just that this would be the perfect year.”
The story is about Ren (played by Jacob Waltersdorf), a teen who has moved from the big city to a small town that does not allow dancing and rock music.
