A new landmark for Grundy Center: The Landmark Bistro set to open this weekend
GRUNDY CENTER – People looking to get a real taste of Grundy Center will have the chance to do just that after the newest restaurant in town, The Landmark Bistro, opens this weekend.
Though the Landmark won’t officially be serving food until later this month, the pub section of the restaurant will be open and serving drink specials from Thursday through Saturday of this weekend as part of the downtown Grand Weekend celebration.
The Landmark, which is owned and operated by Grundy Center local Jill Krausman, has been in the works since June of last year.
“I knew there was a need for another restaurant in Grundy Center,” Krausman said. “But restaurants are known for having big failure rates, so while people in the community have been wanting a restaurant, nobody wanted to open one because it’s sort of a scary thing.”
But Krausman decided to take the risk, and open up her own restaurant. After working with someone from the UNI small business development center to create a business plan, and with a lot of community support, Krausman’s vision of a new restaurant for Grundy Center became a reality.
