Bringing culture and coffee to Grundy Center

GRUNDY CENTER – When Amanda and Nelson Sager first laid eyes on the old building at 626 G Avenue, they didn’t see it for what it was – an empty building that used to house commercial office space – but rather for what it could be. They saw it as something new and different for Grundy Center, a community space – a bakery.
“When I walked in the door, I just had a vision,” Amanda said. “It was so clear to me that this place, it needed to be a bakery.”
After a few months of deciding whether or not to take the leap, they said ‘why not?’ and put everything they had into making their vision a reality.
So Amanda and Nelson bought the building, tore down the drop tile ceiling, ripped out the worn industrial carpet, and transformed the once dull office space into a lively and vibrant bakery for Grundy Center, filled with local art and knick-knacks from shops around town.
The result, Amanda said, is more than she ever expected.
