GRUNDY CENTER – At the Grundy Center School Board meeting last Wednesday, the board heard an update on the recent gym study, and discussed the possibility of building a new practice gymnasium at the middle school-high school.
The proposed gym would cost around $3 million, but would be funded with revenue bonds, which would not increase taxes for tax payers.
According to the study, the proposed gym addition would be located in the area surrounded by Ag Tech on the west, lockers on the north and band on the east. The location was chosen because of the close proximity to the existing locker rooms and gym.
The proposed practice gym would include: regulation basketball and volleyball at main court with retractable bleachers capable of seating 300 spectators, cross courts for volleyball and practice basketball, two volleyball nets, six retractable basketball backstops, two batting cages, wall mats, two scoreboards as well as storage space for equipment.
For more information about the proposed gym, check out the full story in the March 31 edition of The Grundy Register.
