Fish fry fundraiser a big success

When all was said and done at the conclusion of Friday night’s Rick Mull Appreciation Fish Fry on Good Friday, RJ’s Lounge in Conrad had served roughly 100 pounds of fish, 12 pounds of chicken strips, 30 pounds of coleslaw and a case of French fries. Best of all, all of the proceeds raised were donated to a local cancer charity.

Mull, who has been battling cancer, was overwhelmed by all of the support he received from the Conrad community as the event raised $3,150, all from free will donations. It was estimated that just over 200 people came in to grab a bite to eat on Friday.

“We want to thank everyone that took the time to come tonight, got a bite to eat and donated to a great cause,” he said. “It goes to show what our small town community does when someone needs something. If I had to describe tonight in one word, (it would be) awesome.”

RJ’s owners Chad and Lisa Mull also thanked everyone who came out to support their uncle Rick and the volunteers who made the event happen. “Moments like tonight make you proud to live in and own a business in such a special town and community. We have people that genuinely care and want to support each other,” they said.
