GRUNDY CENTER – Grundy Center Police Chief Doug Frost was recently honored with the Patriotic Employer Award from the Iowa Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense.
The award recognizes Frost for his extraordinary support of a Grundy Center Police Dept. employee who serves in the Iowa National Guard and Reserve.
Officer Justin Fox, who nominated Frost for the award, is currently in the Marine Corp. Reserves. During drill time, Fox is required to take time off from duties to attend drill. He said that whenever he needs time off, Frost is more than accommodating, and goes above and beyond to make sure everything is taken care of for him.
“Chief of Police Doug Frost goes above and beyond to help me while I’m away at drill, taking care of anything I may need at home, whether it’s mowing my lawn, watching the house, or even dog sitting if needed,” Fox said. “He only ever asks, ‘How can I help?’ He portrays to the community my selfless service and it definitely reflects back on the community how they see and treat me as an officer.”
