CLARKSVILLE - Post-season nemesis Turkey Valley once again derailed the AGWSR girls’ basketball team.
For the third consecutive season, the Cougars couldn't best the Trojans in a 47-33 loss in a Class 1A Region 3 final at Clarksville High School on Monday.
Second-ranked Turkey Valley turned back a late challenge by the No. 14 Cougars to earn one of eight tickets to the 1A state tourney field. Turkey Valley will play Janesville in a quarterfinal matchup on Monday, Feb. 27.
“I’m proud of the girls. We were right there in the game up to the last couple minutes. It shows the improvement we have made over the past couple seasons,” said AGWSR coach Laurie Gann.
The loss closed the cage campaign at 19-5 for the Cougars and snapped an 11-game winning streak.
