BCLUW's Dolphin named NICL West Meet MVP

   STATE CENTER – Troy Dolphin of the BCLUW boys’ track and field team received Most Valuable Performer honors after the North Iowa Cedar League West Meet at West Marshall High School on Thursday.
   BCLUW finished fourth as a team with 94 points, three points behind Grundy Center with 97 in third. AGWSR scored 114 points as the best area team finish of the night, while Gladbrook-Reinbeck was sixth in the team standings with 43 points.
   Dolphin won the 200- and 400-meter dash events and anchored the 4x100 relay to victory as part of the Comets’ five conference championships on Thursday.
   “Troy had a fantastic night,” said BCLUW coach Les Penick. “Not only did he win three events and take third in another, he had four season and career best times. That is an awesome performance.”
   AGWSR won four titles on Thursday, with Nathan Karsjens and Caleb Meinders winning the discus and shot put titles to continue their quality seasons in the field events. Liam Stubbe added a title in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.59 and the 4x800 relay of Alec Stahl, Tate Hofmeister, Austin Rekward and Mason Eilderts won the event in 8:25.98.
   Fisher wins 3 titles for AGWSR girls
   AGWSR’s Aubrie Fisher won the 800, 1,500 and 3,000 events in State Center on Thursday as the Cougars scored 103 points, trailing only team champion West Marshall with 171 points. Grundy Center scored 80 points in 3rd, BCLUW scored 70 points for 5th and Gladbrook-Reinbeck scored 17 points to place seventh.
   “Aubrie is a competitor,” stated AGWSR coach Laurie Gann. “It does not matter what event you put her in, she will give her all.
   “The distance medley was a nice surprise and Ali (Gerbracht) had a nice night. She has been getting better and better, and it showed tonight,” noted Gann.
   Grundy Center’s 4x200 team of Kyah Luhring, Brooke Flater, Landry Luhring and Hailey Wallis set a new meet and school record in 1:49.38 to win the event, one of three wins for the Spartans. The same foursome won the 4x400 in 4:12.83 and Kyah Luhring won the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 2 inches.
