Triple Threat, WheelHouse bring good time music to BDD

Patrons heading to Black Dirt Days this year can expect to hear an exciting, upbeat mix of music, with the Guttenberg-based Triple Threat performing Friday night and Wheelhouse headlining on Saturday—the second straight year that the band from Madison, Wisconsin, will play at the festival.
           
“We just kind of play a wide variety and do anything from 50’s and 60’s to classic rock and classic country to a little bit of blues,” Steve Moser of Triple Threat said. “If (the audience) hears a song that they haven’t heard in a while or one that takes them back, we just want them to have a good time and have some fun with us.” 
 
WheelHouse, on the other hand, is a regional act and tours full-time, playing over 200 shows per year and specializing in high-energy classic country, Americana and bluegrass. The band, sprung from the ashes of the Mighty Short Bus, has released four albums of original music and awed the crowd at last year’s Black Dirt Days with an extended fiddle jam on the Charlie Daniels classic “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” among other gems from the set. Listeners can expect a healthy dose of classic country and red dirt covers along with rockers from bands like Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac.
           
“(Our songs) go from pretty straight bluegrass to almost where we jam out, and I don’t like to use the word psychedelic, but a lot of people use it,” singer/guitarist Frank Busch said.
