BCLUW welcomes five new teachers
The new school year has brought five new teachers with a wide variety of life experiences and backgrounds to the BCLUW school district, and they were welcomed at a Teacher Appreciation luncheon in the high school commons area on Tuesday afternoon.
Two of the newcomers are already infinitely familiar to members of the Comet family: Industrial Arts teacher Brett Purvis lives in Conrad, and his daughter Grace is currently a high school student here. Purvis has worked in the construction business and previously served as the grounds director for the Marshalltown school district. He also has previous taught at Marshalltown Community College and holds three associate’s degrees. Because he has over 6,000 hours of “real world experience,” he qualifies to teach shop despite not having a formal degree in the field.
