Hearings set in local theft cases

A trio of felony cases in Grundy County moved forward last week involving the theft of a lottery ticket, a large number of quarters, a camera that belonged to the sheriff’s office and an Airstream trailer.
           
All of the alleged infractions occurred in the western half of the county: both John Linden Boldon Jr. of Waterloo and Nicholas Schwartz of Janesville have been charged for larceny that was tied to the Wellsburg Casey’s. Boldon is alleged to have stolen $30 worth of quarters from a relative who resided at 303 First Street on April 9 and proceeded to spend it at the general store. On October 18, Schwartz allegedly entered the same store, stole a lottery ticket after distracting the clerk and attempted to redeem it at Murphy’s USA in Cedar Falls.
           
William Speicher, a 39-year-old from Conrad, is alleged to have stolen a 1976 Airstream camper owned by Rose Pence from a property located on 250th Street between Conrad and Eldora before selling it without any right to do so on May 18. He is also charged with stealing a camera that the sheriff’s office was using to monitor the farm. He was later identified by his tire tracks and video from the property. A warrant for Speicher’s arrest was issued on November 1, and he has not yet been apprehended by authorities.
